Great Panther Silver Limited, headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, is one of the fastest growing primary silver producers in Mexico with strong leverage to future rises in the price of silver. Since commencing production in Q1 2006, the Company has seen 13 out of 16 successive increases in quarterly production.
The centerpiece of the Company’s operations is the Guanajuato Silver-Gold Mine Complex, in the State of Guanajuato. Metal production for the year 2009 at the Guanajuato Mine Complex was 1,541,220 silver equivalent ounces (Ag eq oz), which represented a 37% increase over 2008 and the fourth consecutive year of production growth for Great Panther. At Great Panther's second producing mine, the Topia Silver-Lead-Zinc Mine in Durango State, production totalled 661,236 Ag eq oz in 2009.
Great Panther’s new 3-year growth strategy is focused on an immediate and aggressive increase in production and resources while maintaining profitability. It is anticipated that the new strategy should see the Company's annual production increase to approximately 3.8 million Ag eq oz by 2012 from its two existing mines in Mexico.
In addition, Great Panther intends to build its resource base at the Guanajuato and Topia operations to support a minimum 10-year mine life at the planned rate - a minimum of 40 million Ag eq oz. Consequently, a major deep drilling program has commenced at the Rayas area of the Guanajuato Mine Complex. This initial phase of approximately 12,000 metres of underground drilling in the Rayas area at Guanajuato is part of an ongoing program of approximately 20,000 metres at Guanajuato, and 8,000 metres at Topia planned for 2010. Recent discoveries such as the gold-rich Santa Margarita and high grade Los Pozos zones highlight the potential for both increased production and resources.
Great Panther Silver is confident that the targets outlined in its new strategy will be achieved or exceeded.
